Clubs & Activities

When the class day ends, the exploration begins.

McCallie student life: student uses virtual reality system

A Universe of Options Awaits.

McCallie's afternoon activities program offers boys a truly diverse array of choices every season, from athletics and wellness to internships, service opportunities and enrichment classes. The program is built to help boys push their boundaries and explore topics beyond what they may cover in the classroom.

In addition, McCallie offers student-led clubs and organizations of all shapes and sizes that appeal to boys no matter where their interests lie. And if there's a club they want to see, boys are empowered and encouraged to create one!

A Sampling of Choices

Our activity and club offerings change every season, but here's a sampling of what we offer:

Afternoon enrichment classes cover topics from robotic engineering to video production, and even contemporary Christianity.

If competition is your speed, we offer academic teams that compete at the highest levels, including Mock Trial, Model UN, National History Day and FIRST Robotics.

We also offer a science research program where students conduct full-fledged projects they submit for publication and presentation.

Beyond varsity athletics, we offer club teams in Squash, Ultimate Frisbee and Mountain Biking, as well a varsity-level cheerleading program in coordination with our sister school, GPS.

McCallie Student Broadcasting is the online voice of our athletic teams, and Student Sports Information compiles stats and shares information about teams. Oh, and if you're a stats geek, our Sports Analytics club is the place for you.

Arts & Publications

From multiple stage performances every semester to the chance to help tell the story of the school year in McCallie's yearbook, The Pennant, there is no shortage of ways for boys to participate beyond the school day.

One unique offering is IMAT: Integrated Music and Technology, in which McCallie and GPS students create a semester-long immersive multimedia project, combining visual arts, music, video and more.

We believe strongly that every boy should be physically fit, and our afternoon activities include M-Fit and MPT - fitness programs that serve boys of all activity levels.

For boys with a passion for fitness, the McCallie Iron Club is a group of students who make the weight room a second home!

McCallie is located in the heart of one of the greatest areas for outdoor recreation in the world, and our boys benefit.

Throughout the year boys can choose from among the following for their afternoon activity: Climbing, Kayaking, Mountain Biking, Outdoor Leadership, Outdoor Sampler, Paddleboarding, Ultimate Frisbee and Wilderness Skills.

Community Service

The duty to give back and serve others is part of everything we do at McCallie. That's why boys can join in service options every afternoon, as well as mornings throughout the week.

Offerings include multiple tutoring options in local schools, mentoring and coaching with the YMCA, recycling and more.

In addition multiple student clubs focus on community service work, including the Missionary Committee, Leo Club and others.
