Arts At McCallie
Fine arts -- music, art, drama -- comprises a critical element in the journey to becoming a McCallie Man. Academically, students are required to take five semesters' worth of fine arts classes and can choose from more than 20 classes and subjects. But the school's commitment to the arts hardly begins and ends in the classroom setting.
Interest in the arts can develop through involvement in choral or instrumental groups, a diverse offering of art classes from pottery and painting to sculpture, or through a comprehensive drama program.
Stage & Screen
"All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts..." - As You Like It
The Dramatic Arts program at McCallie is thriving under actor and director Stevie Ray Dallimore, who has expanded the scope and breadth of offerings to include three dramatic productions annually and courses in both Theater & Drama and Filmmaking.
Recent productions have included Shakespeare's Hamlet and Henry V, and "William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, a New Hope" by Ian Doescher, as well as winter productions combining the acting and writing talents of both students and faculty!
