Arts & Music

The Sound of Music

The Music Department at McCallie is home to an impressive, diverse and critically-recognized, collection of musical groups! Offerings include guitar ensemble, wind ensemble, strings and orchestra, and more than half a dozen choirs and choral ensembles.

Every year, some 300 of the Upper School boys -- frequently more than half the student body -- participate in some aspect of McCallie's annual Christmastime musical event ("Candlelight"), a beloved tradition on the Ridge for more than 20 years.

Candlelight 2018

Candlelight 2018 will be held Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8!

Tickets are now available! Click here to reserve your tickets.
We ask families to limit themselves to 8 tickets total. If there are still tickets available on November 1, additional tickets may be purchased. If you are charging tickets to a student account, you should indicate the student's name and enter either "GPS" or "McCallie" as a promo code at checkout.

Arts At McCallie

Fine arts -- music, art, drama -- comprises a critical element in the journey to becoming a McCallie Man. Academically, students are required to take five semesters' worth of fine arts classes and can choose from more than 20 classes and subjects. But the school's commitment to the arts hardly begins and ends in the classroom setting.

Interest in the arts can develop through involvement in choral or instrumental groups, a diverse offering of art classes from pottery and painting to sculpture, or through a comprehensive drama program.
