The McCallie residential program is for students in grades 9 - 12
McCallie’s boarding program gives boys the opportunity to learn from one of the nation’s top faculties, and reside in a close-knit community with their teachers. Additionally, McCallie’s boarding students live, study and form friendships with other students who come from a variety of different states and foreign countries. McCallie’s residential program helps students grow academically, physically and spiritually, and develop a sense of self-confidence which will carry them forward in college and beyond.
The following are required to complete the admission process.
- Completed application with a $50 ($100 International) application fee.
- Personal interview and campus visit
- Testing (SSAT)
- Recent transcript
- Teacher recommendations
There is not a required order for completing the application process, and several steps may be completed simultaneously. If you need to fax, the number is 423.493.5426.

. The parental statement is intended to assist in our understanding of the applicant’s individual needs as well as your concerns and educational objectives. Be sure to highlight any unique talents, interests, extracurricular experiences, skills, or accolades
McCallie requires recommendations from all applicants’ current Math and English teachers. We ask that students have a teacher for at least two months before asking him or her to complete a recommendation form. Recommendation forms can be requested via the Applicant Profile portal under "Teacher Recommendations." Personal recommendations are optional and may be submitted at any time. The Transcript Request
should be submitted to the current school at the end of a student’s first semester/trimester. Families must also include a copy of the applicant’s most recent standardized testing, most recent semester-ending report card. Campus Visits
McCallie requires on campus interviews of all candidates for boarding admission. You may take advantage of our scheduled Visitors Days or you may choose a date that is more convenient. Please log in to your Applicant Profile

All boarding applicants are required to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT). You may register online for a location near you or contact our office to take the SSAT at McCallie.
