Upper School Summer Reading 2016

Once again, your faculty and fellow students have put together an engaging list of book groups that give you wonderful and varied choices. The program is similar to past years, but please look over the expectations carefully. Students must read the Required Book and the book(s) in one book group.

REQUIRED BOOK: The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba
This book tells the amazing and true story of a young man from Malawi who designed and built a windmill to bring electricity and water to his family’s farm. This book will be discussed in advisor groups on Summer Reading Day in August 2016.

In addition:
  • All Students NEW to the Upper School (incl. all incoming 9th):
Information about your additional requirements will be provided prior to the end of the school year.
  • All returning Upper School students (10th-12th):
Choose a book group from the options provided in the brochure (PDF) linked from this page.
All students should plan to finish reading their books by Summer Reading Day in August. Book discussions and assessments will be part of that day's events.
