Family Connection is the latest tool being used by McCallie’s college guidance staff. Everyone, parents and students grades 9 - 12, should have received an email with the information needed to access individual student records. There are many features available to you, most notably one that many of you have already used to access your son's test scores (PSAT, PLAN, SAT, ACT, AP). In the fall, you will be able to access the college rep visit schedule. You may also do a college search, lookup a particular college, check out resources, scan the scholarship list and contact the college guidance office with your questions.
This is a personal inventory survey that will ask you a series of multiple-choice questions about your personality and preferences and produce a report that will guide you towards the characteristics of colleges that might best suit you, including location, size, curriculum, etc. The report may be valuable as you start your college search, and it is free, but don't get persuaded to pay for additional services and products...
This is a great site for getting insight into the quality of life characteristics of universities around the country. Grades are assigned for academics, dorms, campus food, social life, parking, etc and student quotes are used to expand the ratings. Be sure to ask one of the college counselors for our subscriptions login and password to get the full data. Short of actually visiting, this is one of the best ways to find our what a campus really feels like.
McCallie's college guidance staff frequently takes photographs during their visits to campuses across the country. Taking a look at what struck them during their visits can offer a great starting point to discussions about your own interests.
