Casting Call for Educators

Only a select and fortunate few can earn a part in "McCallie: The Movie!" (And by "The Movie" we actually mean the very real responsibility of educating and mentoring boys grades 6-12 at one of the finest schools in the country).
Are you the kind of hero McCallie needs to continue its mission? You will join a talented, committed team of women and men committed to their areas of expertise, to the task of teaching boys, and to the responsibility of exemplifying key concepts of Honor, Truth and Duty.
And they also know how to have some fun and not take things too seriously.
Thank you for your interest in joining the McCallie School community. Founded in 1905, McCallie is an all boys college preparatory school, serving both boarding and day students and their families. McCallie seeks to inspire, educate, and transform boys into men who:

  • embody the ideals of Honor, Truth, and Duty;
  • embrace intellectual rigor, critical thinking, and lifelong learning;
  • devote themselves in service to noble causes;
  • pursue spiritual meaning; and
  • make a positive difference in the world.

For those so called, McCallie is an extraordinary place to work and to live.

  • We are a community of learning. McCallie teachers are lifelong learners who understand they are called not just to teach a subject; instead, they are called to teach boys in ways that are dynamic, engaging, student-centered, and rooted in authentic relationships. Therefore, learning at McCallie can occur anywhere. In the classrooms, playing fields, dorms, and dining hall, our teachers participate in the formation of the whole boy: heart, soul, mind, and strength.
  • We are a community of faith. McCallie welcomes families from all faith traditions, but McCallie itself is rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition and specifically guided and informed by the school’s commitment to Christianity as revealed in the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments and expressed in the foundational tenets of the Apostles’ Creed. McCallie seeks to hire individuals who are called to the education and formation of young men consistent with the school’s vision and who are committed to advancing the school’s mission.
  • We are a place to pursue a purposeful career with unmatched quality of life. The school offers competitive compensation and an appealing benefits package within a collegial and supportive school community. The school is also located in a beautiful Southern city, Chattanooga, Tennessee, with easy access both to a vibrant city center and a variety of outdoor attractions in the surrounding mountains, lakes, and rivers.

  • Joseph Glenn Sherrill Chair of Bible

    A thoughtful study and analysis of the Bible has been part of McCallie’s curriculum since the founding of the school in 1905. Coursework in our Bible Department remains a requirement for graduation. In 1986 Rodolph G. Sherrill ‘56 and his sister, Mrs. Glenda Hamilton, established the Joseph Glenn Sherrill Chair of Bible in memory of their father. Its purpose is to enhance students’ studies by supporting the hiring of a scholar in Christian thinking and research who can elucidate a Biblical response to the questions and challenges central to the growth of faith in high school students.
    McCallie is seeking an academically rigorous, student-focused teacher who is a deeply committed, thinking Christian to be the next holder of the Sherrill Bible Chair.
