Six senior student-athletes committed to continue their academic and athletic football careers at the college level in a National Signing Day ceremony Feb. 3 on campus.
Austin and Jack Gentle, twin brothers, signed National Letters of Intent to attend Harvard University. B.J. Harris signed with the University of Missouri, Eric Rivers is headed to the University of Memphis, and John David Tessmann will attend Davidson College. Jackson Burns will enroll at Tennessee Tech University as a preferred walk-on.
"These young men have worked hard and have maximized what talents they have," Head Coach Ralph Potter said. "This is not the end. It's the beginning for them. They are set to go out and represent their families and this school. They have a great legacy over the last three years with two State Championships. We are certainly proud of them."
The McCallie football team won its second straight Division II-AAA state title in 2020 with a dominating 44-0 victory over Memphis University School in the championship game and finished with a 9-3 record.
