McCallie is an All-Boys Private Boarding School and Day School, a Christian-based College Prep School.

New faculty for 2020-21


As the 2020-21 school year gets started, there are several new faculty and staff joining the McCallie community. These new members of the McCallie family will bring new insights and enthusiasm to life on the Ridge and will give the boys new perspectives on learning and growing.

Our new faculty this year are:

Nelson Eiselstein ‘16, Science Teacher

Nelson was a seven-year day student at McCallie and a member of the Class of 2016. He is the son of Kyle Eiselstein ‘90 and the grandson of long-time Summer Programs Director Bill Eiselstein. He attended Vanderbilt University and majored in Biological Sciences. Nelson teaches high school chemistry, is involved in McCallie's athletic program, and lives in South Hutcheson dorm. 

Jack Harris ‘13, Director of Athletic Logistics & Support

Jack is a Chattanooga native having graduated from McCallie in 2013, and from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice with a minor in History. Jack worked as a sushi chef for two and a half years, and a hibachi chef for just under a year before returning to college three years ago. He has previously worked as a varsity football and Middle School shot/discus coach for the last 4 years at McCallie. 

Brian Maskarinec, Math Teacher

Originally a native of Knoxville, TN, marriage brought Brian to the Chattanooga area in 2007. Brian has 13 years of teaching experience in Georgia schools, teaching advanced high school mathematics. He has served as a reader for the AP Calculus AB and BC exams. He received his B.S. from the University of Georgia and a M.Ed. from the University of Tennessee.

Sal Musumeci, History Teacher

Salvatore Musumeci comes to McCallie after almost two decades of teaching at the college level. He is a Connecticut native and die-hard Hartford Whaler and Jimmy Buffett fan. He enjoys figuring out the subtle nuances of Italian history and alimentary habits and ruminating on the influence of classical texts and ideas on the medieval and early modern periods. He received his B.A. from Palm Beach Atlantic University, his M.A. from Trinity College and his Ph.D. from Queen Mary, University of London.

Haley Smith, Nurse

Haley has been in pediatrics since graduating in 2016 and has also worked as an operating room nurse at Erlanger. She and her husband lived in Fort Payne, AL until 2016 when the Navy took them to Virginia. They returned to the area they love so much this past December. often). Haley received her B.S.N. degree from Jacksonville State University.

Kelcey Watson, Learning Center Specialist

Kelcey, a native of Chattanooga, TN, is a 21-year teaching veteran. He also adds 20 plus years of coaching experience to the McCallie Community. He earned his B.S. Degree & M.A. Degree from East Tennessee State University. Kelcey serves as an assistant coach for varsity football, varsity basketball, and middle school track.
