All things baseball. That’s the subject of a laugh-filled discussion of McCallie baseball by three former varsity coaches as the school prepares to name parts of the newly refurbished baseball field in their honor.
Assistant Head of School Kenny Sholl, Upper Principal Hank Hopping, and retired Director of Summer Programs Bill Eiselstein recently got together on the varsity field to share old stories and reflect on their days as varsity coaches. Their discussion, hosted by Vice President of Advancement Steve Hearn ’74, is the latest episode of McCallie’s podcast series Stories from the Ridge.
On Monday afternoon, prior to the McCallie-Baylor varsity game, the three former coaches will be honored: the visitors’ dugout will be named in honor of Hank Hopping, the home doughout will be named in honor of Bill Eiselstein, and the stadium will be named the Kenny Sholl Stadium.
In the podcast, the three share funny stories about the old Alumni Field, their ups and downs as varsity coaches, and their love for the game and the students they coached.
