McCallie School’s Middle School basketball program consists of three teams and allows participation by sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. Each of the teams are staffed by knowledgeable coaches, and the skills taught at the middle school level are the same skills being taught at the high school varsity level. A main goal of the middle school program is to groom players to participate successfully at the high school level.

The sixth grade team is led by John Marcellis '85. Coach Marcellis is assisted by former Duke University player and current McCallie Bible teacher, Jim Suddath.

The Middle School Junior Varsity team is led by Corey McDonald '16. In addition to coaching basketball, McDonald also coaches Middle School football. He is assisted by Coach LaShandra Rivers.

The Middle School Varsity team is led by Drew Burns. Coach Burns is the husband of High School science teacher, Mrs. Callie Burns. He is assisted by Coach LaShandra Rivers.

The middle school teams are formed according to the skill level of the players. The teams compete locally and with other schools in the area. Each team will provide players opportunities for skill development in competitive situations.

The overall basketball program is under the direction of Head Coach David Conrady. Coach Conrady is a former Furman University player and current Middle School Bible teacher and chaplain.
