McCallie is an All-Boys Private Boarding School and Day School, a Christian-based College Prep School.
McCallie seeks out and accepts boys from all ethnic, racial, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds and places a high value on a diverse student body.
McCallie's Middle School Lacrosse program is made up of our sixth, seventh, and eighth grades and split into two teams based on age and skill. The teams practice with a staff of four coaches, two of whom have won state championships as McCallie players and/or coaches. The practices focus on fun cardiovascular activities, developing the fundamentals of lacrosse, and focused drills/concepts. All of these elements translate directly to the values and best practices we see at the junior varsity and varsity levels.
The Middle School program is coached by Sam Currin '03, and he is assisted by Wayne Fullam '03, Eric Wolf '13, and Scott Sholl '02.
The lacrosse program is led by Head Coach Eamon Thornton ’02, who took over the program in 2020. Eamon has been a member of the school’s faculty since 2011 and the JV head coach and varsity assistant for seven years before assuming the varsity head coaching role.
The middle school teams are split by grade level and skill. Most games are played locally, with an end-of-the-year tournament that features teams from the Southeast. The coaches prioritize playing time and skill development and pursue the experience of competitive environments as a team over individual accomplishments.Coach Troy Kemp has led the McCallie Lacrosse program for 26 years, and his influence extends from members of his first team to local fourth graders that attend our summer camps. He is a ubiquitous and outspoken advocate for the game and McCallie.
