McCallie is an All-Boys Private Boarding School and Day School, a Christian-based College Prep School.
McCallie seeks out and accepts boys from all ethnic, racial, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds and places a high value on a diverse student body.
The McCallie varsity basketball team has won 100 games over the past four seasons including a school-record 27 victories in 2016-17. In 2017, the Blue Tornado advanced to the State’s final four for the second straight year and earned a trip to the TSSAA Division II-AA Championship Game.
McCallie has won the Best of Preps Tournament in 2015, 2016 and 2017 as the area’s best team and will look to defend its title in December 2018. The Blue Tornado advanced to the title game of the prestigious Arby’s Classic in late December 2017 against a national field.
Henley Edge and Max Shulman, seniors on the 2016-17 squad, signed with NCAA Division II program Alabama-Huntsville, and Jr. Clay '18 has signed with Division I Tennessee Tech.
Veteran coach David Conrady was named head coach of the program in the spring of 2018. Coach Conrady has years of experience at the collegiate level but comes to McCallie from Prestonwood Christian, a Dallas, Texas-power which won a state title two years ago.
McCallie will host the Fourth Annual McCallie Dr Pepper TEN Classic in February, drawing both top team and individual prep talent to Chattanooga. The inaugural Classic was held in February 2016 at McCallie. The tournament attracted the top-rated high school program in the nation, Oak Hill Academy, for a two-game showcase. The following season, La Lumiere of Indiana, was featured in the local Classic and won the prep national title at the end of the season. Oak Hill Academy returned to the event in 2018.
