Blue Tornado Ultimate

What has been a longtime favorite activity of McCallie boys became the school’s latest varsity sport in the spring of 2024. In its first year under the Athletics umbrella, 32 boys were members of the first ever McCallie varsity Ultimate team. Under the direction of coaches Jake Altemus, Hank Currin, and Bryan Sansbury, the boys benefitted from a recently constructed field on the south end of campus and competed against local school teams and clubs across the state and the tri-state area. The Blue Tornado played in the state tournament and placed third, advancing to the semifinals.

For the 2025 season, 30 boys are benefitting from non-stop action of the sport and the outdoor air out on the fields. The squad has a strong schedule and will continue to work on the finer points of the game.
