2025 Dr Pepper Classic
Two Days. Nine Games. America's Best.
January 24-25, 2025
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the McCallie-Dr Pepper Classic. This year’s basketball showcase will be held January 24-25 at the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Classic showcases high-level high school basketball with nationally-ranked programs and college prospects competing against the host school and other programs of local and significant interest.
The weekend features two days of basketball action in front of standing-room-only crowds, a dunk contest, a three-point shooting contest, and a free youth clinic. It tips off with a community luncheon highlighted by a nationally-known speaker who imparts wisdom and inspiration from his or her story to the young people in attendance, as well as a crowd of around 400. This year’s special guest speaker is former collegiate head coach and current television basketball commentator Josh Pastner.
This year’s classic field features a very different format from years past. Friday night’s action has two games including a Region matchup between host McCallie and Chattanooga Christian and Memphis East taking on Hamilton Heights Christian. Saturday’s schedule is jam packed with seven games running throughout the day consisting of local squads Chattanooga Prep, Tyner, Baylor, GPS and the Notre Dame girls as well as in-state powers Germantown, Hamilton Heights, Hillsboro, Houston, Memphis East, Montgomery Bell Academy and Whitehaven and North Carolina’s Moravian Prep starring the Ellis brothers. Senior Eli Ellis is rated as the No. 35-ranked prep player nationally and has signed to play at the University of South Carolina.
MBA (No. 3), Hillsboro (6), Whitehaven (7) and Houston (12) are all ranked among the top 15 in the current Tennessee state rankings.
