Dr Pepper Classic

McCallie Basketball playing in game

Two Nights. Four Games. America's Best.

February 18-19, 2022

The 2022 McCallie-Dr Pepper Classic is a showcase of some of the best high school basketball talent and teams in Tennessee and the nation. But it is always more than that.

The basketball event brings together the community for two days of entertainment featuring an impactful luncheon with a prominent guest speaker, a nationally-ranked team, four highly-competitive squads, a dunk contest, and a three-point shooting contest all typically before standing-room-only crowds.

The Seventh Annual Dr Pepper Classic is February 18-19 and promises to be one of the best.

Sunrise Christian Academy of Kansas highlights the field. The Bison are the 2021 National Prep runner up and are ranked No. 1 nationally as of January 18. Sunrise boasts a past Gatorade Player of the Year, Gradey Dick, who has signed with the University of Kansas, and two other players who have committed to Baylor and Duke.

Knoxville Catholic is a top-five team in Tennessee and is led by University of Tennessee signee B.J. Edwards who is the No. 2-rated player in the state. The Irish will face the Blue Tornado on day one of the event which will count as a TSSAA Division II-AA East Region game for the two squads.

Hamilton Heights is a local giant which traditionally has highly-rated and highly-skilled players who advance to Division I college programs.

Interspersed with the games will be a slam dunk contest as well as a three-point shooting contest and a free basketball clinic for boys and girls in grades 1 through 5.

The two-day event will also include a Friday luncheon with special speaker Mike Gminski, a former All-American at Duke and seventh overall pick in the NBA Draft who now serves as a basketball TV analyst and counselor at the Rebound Institute.
