Dr Pepper Classic

McCallie Basketball Dr. Pepper Classics 2019 Banner

Two Nights. Five Games. America's Best.

February 10-11, 2023

The 2023 McCallie-Dr Pepper Classic is a showcase of some of the best high school basketball talent and teams in Tennessee and the nation. But it is always more than that.

The basketball event brings together the community for two days of entertainment featuring an impactful luncheon with a prominent guest speaker, a nationally-ranked team, seven highly-competitive squads, a dunk contest, and a three-point shooting contest, all typically before standing-room-only crowds.

The Eighth Annual Dr Pepper Classic is February 10-11 and will rival the others as one of the best.

Moravian Academy is an outstanding team from North Carolina and features the Ellis brothers, Eli and Isaac. The two players, a freshman and an eighth-grader respectively, have a national following via YouTube and are social media sensations for their basketball skills. They draw a crowd at every arena in which the Lions compete.

Winston-Salem Christian Academy boasts a 31-3 record heading into the Classic and is ranked No. 24 in the latest national rankings. The Lions bring a talented team that plays an exciting brand of basketball and have several college prospects on the roster.

Hamilton Heights returns with its traditional group of highly-skilled players. New to the Classic this season will also be local programs Coffee County and Red Bank.

In addition to the games will be the always-popular slam dunk contest, a three-point shooting contest, and a free basketball clinic for boys and girls in grades 1 through 5.

The two-day event will also include a Friday luncheon with special speaker Phil Ford, former standout basketball player at the University of North Carolina. Phil has a nearly unmatched basketball resume, as he was a three-time First-Team All-American for the Tar Heels, a National Collegiate Player of the Year, an Olympic Gold Medalist, and an NBA Rookie of the Year. But he also has a life-changing story to share.
