Music

Performance builds confidence, in oneself and in the power of a team working together. Music taps into the soul in a way no other discipline can.The McCallie Music Department is home to an impressive, diverse and critically-recognized collection of musical groups. Offerings include guitar ensemble, wind ensemble, strings and orchestra, handbells and more than half a dozen choirs and choral ensembles.

Every year, some 300 Upper School boys participate in McCallie's annual Christmastime musical event called "Candlelight" which is highly anticipated and sold-out every year.

Musicians at McCallie collaborate meaningfully, think critically and creatively, and communicate effectively. Those skills are useful in any career, academic pursuit or area of life. MICHAEL AKE, MCCALLIE PERFORMING ARTS DEPARTMENT CHAIRMAN
