Charlotte Alumni Chapter Chair

Evan Ellison was a boarding student from Atlanta Georgia graduating from the class of 2008. While at McCallie, he was a member of the Track team and the TEPS organization. He received his B.A. in Computer Science from Lynchburg University in Virginia.

Evan lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife and daughter. He has worked professionally as a software engineer for 10 years and is currently an engineer at Microsoft. He enjoys running, working out, hiking, and watching movies. When he is not working or working out, he is usually developing an application or working on one of his client’s websites. Evan was a celebrated sprinter at McCallie and still holds the school 400-meter dash record as well as one strength and conditioning record.

He says that McCallie was a blessing to him and made him realize just how important it is to have a broader perspective of life outside of your own neighborhood. His love for computer programming started at McCallie in one of the first programming class offerings from the school. McCallie instilled in him a mental toughness and resilience that he leans on each day in his professional and personal life. He still remembers the words from coach Mike Wood, “There are only 2 things you have control of in life…your effort and attitude.”
