Postgraduate (PG) FAQs

We expect to enroll approximately 8-10 new seniors and PGs each year.

Yes - the PG year is designed specifically for college preparation, and boarding provides students with more opportunities for growth outside the classroom. 

Yes - upon successful completion of their postgraduate year, PGs will receive the McCallie diploma.

No McCallie student may turn 19 before August 1 of his senior year. 

PG students will live in one of our five upper classman dorms - Belk, Burns, Founders, North Hutch or South Hutch - among other 10th through 12th graders. Like all boarding students, PGs will have a dorm advisor who meets weekly with his or her advisee group of approximately 8 boys.

Yes - all PG students must take a full academic course load for both semesters they attend McCallie, including courses from at least four of the following core subjects: English, foreign language, history, math, and science.

No - current McCallie students are not eligible to do a PG year. 

Each student possesses a unique set of goals and aspirations for college and beyond. We encourage you to share your own story with your McCallie Admission Counselor, who can discuss with you how a PG year fits into your own plans.
