Chattanooga: The Scenic City
We call it home.
The New York Times recently named Chattanooga one of the “Top 45 Places to Go" in the world. Only four U.S. destinations were named, and the Scenic City was the only place outside of California! Even more recently, the Times and other national and international publications have focused on the many ways that our hometown is an unmatched place to visit, live, work and play.
"Tucked between the mountains of Southeast Tennessee, along the beautiful Tennessee River, Chattanooga is one of America’s most breathtaking cities. But that’s just the beginning of what the Scenic City has to offer. " (from ChattanoogaFun.com)
Chattanooga was voted in Outdoor Magazine as "Best Town Ever" in 2011 and again in 2015, and CNBC offered a powerful feature "Rebooting Chattanooga's Fortunes."
Not content with being a "stand still, look pretty" kind of town, Chattanooga recently earned the moniker "Gig City" and has become a hub of active entrepreneurial opportunity, with business incubators like The Lamp Post Group, led by McCallie alumni Barry Large '96 and Allan Davis '96.
McCallie's campus is the best of both worlds - more than 150 acres of land nestled in the heart of Chattanooga less than 10 minutes from downtown and the expanding Southside and Main Street neighborhoods. Far from isolated, McCallie students have the chance to live life as part of one of the world's most vibrant and innovative communities.
From classes and our innovative Tornado Term program to athletic competitions, the arts, internships and weekend activities, McCallie life is plugged into the heart of Gig City.
