International Applicants

Welcome!

McCallie welcomes students from all parts of the world. Our community is enriched and enlightened by the multiple experiences and perspectives that each student brings. At McCallie, international students are immersed in American culture as they prepare for top colleges and universities around the globe. International students are supported by our faculty, host families and friends of our institution.

To be eligible for admission to McCallie, international students need to complete the following:

1: Application - A completed application consists of the application form, parent statement, recommendations from current Math and English teachers and the student’s transcript.  To start the application year, go to our online application portal, create an account, and submit an application. Once you submit your application, you will have access to the other required forms through the application portal. McCallie also accepts the SSAT Standard Application Online (SAO).

2: Application Fee: The application fee for international applicants is $150.  All forms of payment should be made payable to The McCallie School.  Please contact the Admission Office (423) 493-5848 if you would like to pay by bank transfer.

3: Interview: All applicants are required to interview with the McCallie admissions office.  A video conference can be arranged, although preference will be shown to those applicants who interview in person.  To schedule an interview or a campus visit, please contact the Admission Office  at (423) 493-5848 or via email at admission@mccallie.org.

APPLICANTS FROM CHINA*: In order for the McCallie admission team to get to know our Chinese applicants better, we have partnered with Vericant. Vericant will help us conduct interviews and short writing samples with our applicants in Mainland China. Vericant does not evaluate candidates but, instead, posts the interviews online for the McCallie admission team to review.  Although the Vericant interview is not mandatory, we highly recommend you sit for the Vericant interview, as it will give you an excellent opportunity to showcase your personality and skills to our admissions team. To learn more about Vericant and to schedule an interview, please visit Vericant's Website.

4: Testing – Applicants whose primary language is not English are required to take the TOEFL.  McCallie also accepts the Duolingo English Test (DET). McCallie does not require the SSAT, but applicants are welcome to submit their scores to be considered as part of their application. All test scores should be sent to directly to McCallie using our reporting codes:

                        SSAT: 4744
                        TOEFL: 1884

Please direct any questions about international testing requirements to admission@mccallie.org.

5: Deadlines – Applicants who determine McCallie is their first choice can apply for an early decision. The deadline for requesting early decision is December 15 and early decision notifications will be sent on January 18. If you have any questions regarding early decision, please contact Director of Admission, Hank Bramblet at hbramblet@mccallie.org.

Applicants whose files are completed by February 1 will be notified of their admissions decision on March 10.  After that, applications will be considered on a rolling basis depending on availability.

*If you have or intend to sit for the Vericant interview, McCallie will not accept interviews from other companies. We will, however, accept students who have already interviewed with InitialView to submit their interview in lieu of also going through Vericant.
