The school offers competitive compensation and an appealing benefits package within a collegial, supportive, and increasingly diverse school community. The school is also located in beautiful Chattanooga, Tennessee, with easy access both to a vibrant city center and a variety of outdoor attractions in the surrounding mountains, lakes, and rivers.

Founded in 1905, we are an all boys boarding and day college preparatory school that is rooted in the Christian tradition. We are lovingly concerned with the character formation of every boy entrusted to us, respecting always his and his family’s own identity, beliefs, faith, and journey. McCallie seeks to inspire, educate, and transform boys into men who:

  • embody the ideals of Honor, Truth, and Duty;

  • embrace intellectual rigor, critical thinking, and lifelong learning;

  • devote themselves in service to noble causes;

  • pursue spiritual meaning; and

  • make a positive difference in the world.

McCallie is an extraordinary place to work and to live.

  • We are a community of learning. McCallie teachers are lifelong learners who understand they are called not just to teach a subject; instead, they are called to teach boys in ways that are dynamic, engaging, student-centered, and rooted in authentic relationships. Therefore, learning at McCallie can occur anywhere. In the classrooms, playing fields, dorms, and dining hall, our teachers participate in the formation of the whole boy: heart, soul, mind, and strength.

  • We are a community of faith. McCallie welcomes families from all faith traditions, and McCallie itself is rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition and specifically guided and informed by the school’s commitment to Christianity as revealed in the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments and expressed in the foundational tenets of the Apostles’ Creed. McCallie seeks to hire individuals who are called to the education and formation of young men and who are committed to advancing the school’s mission.

  • We are a community committed with renewed urgency and intentionality to recruiting, creating, and fostering a diverse community. In ways that are consistent with its mission and believing all people are created in God’s image and worthy of dignity, respect, and love, McCallie School embraces the diversity of God’s creation in all its forms - identity, culture, background, experience, status, abilities, opinions, and beliefs. We respect individual differences, including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, color, sex,  gender, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
