More Talks "From the Chapel" Added 6/20/2012 Three faculty members' Chapel Talks from the end of the school year were recently added... Departing history teacher and crew coach Prentice Stabler '02 spoke to the Upper School as the end of the school year approached. Both he and the senior class leave for school in the fall, as Mr. Stabler heads to the Klingenstein Center at Columbia University.
"What I love about McCallie is that your experience here is an end in itself, not merely a means to catapult you to your next endeavor."
Upper School Counselor Will Honeycutt attended Vanderbilt with Campbell Award recipient Jeff Ligon '96, who passed away in February 2012 after a fight with cancer.
"One of the ways you will lead us is on the value you place on relationships. How will you live out genuine friendship? How will you care for each other? How will you support one another when difficult circumstances come your way?"
Chaplain Josh Deitrick explores the monster of fear and the ways it can create havoc in our lives. "You must do the thing you think you cannot do."
"Fear is a Jekyll and Hyde kind of emotion. It can be your savior in one moment and a monster in the next... Fear, like all of our emotions, is a tool to make us aware, to warn us, and even to guide us at times. But at the end of the day, as with so many other things, you must be the master of your ship." |
