Memorial Day Service

U.S. servicemen who were first McCallie students were remembered at a Memorial Day service on campus . . .The McCallie community took a break from final exams Monday for a brief remembrance service on campus in honor of Memorial Day.
Chaplain Josh Deitrick led the gathering in prayer near the Memorial Wall on the quad and added some words about those who have served our nation in the military.
Several student leaders read aloud some of the names of alumni listed on the 13 stone plaques which include the names of all 93 alumni who have lost their lives in military service.
Upper School English teacher Sam Currin ’03 read selections from “Flower in the Crannied Wall” by Alfred, Lord Tennyson and Gerard Manley Hopkins’ “God’s Grandeur” to end the tribute.
