There is not a required order for completing the application process, and several steps may be completed simultaneously. Application packets will be mailed out by the middle of September to the families who are on our list. We will mail packets for new requests as the information is received.
Main Application and Parent Statement
Please complete and submit the online application. The parental statement is intended to assist in our understanding of the applicant’s individual needs as well as your concerns and educational objectives. Be sure to highlight any unique talents, interests, extracurricular experiences, skills, or accolades.
Teacher Recommendation Form
McCallie requires recommendations from all applicants’ current Math and English teachers. If the applicant has only one teacher, the current teacher and the previous year’s teacher should each complete a recommendation form. We ask that students have a teacher for at least two months before asking him or her to complete a recommendation form. Personal recommendations are optional and may be submitted at any time.
The Common Teacher Recommendation form is accepted by most leading prep schools in Chattanooga. Make sure to list all the schools to which your son will apply in the space provided in the parent section. The teacher can simply fill out the form once, and then send copies to the listed schools.
Request for Transcript and School Evaluation
The Transcript Form should be submitted to the school at the end of a student’s first semester. Families must also include a copy of the applicant’s most recent standardized testing and most recent, semester-ending, report card.

Testing (ISEE)
All day applicants are required to take the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE). You may also send us a copy of his most recent standardized testing (TCAP, ITBS, CAT). Our ISEE test center number and school code are 430315.
ISEE Testing for students entering sixth grade: December 15
ISEE Testing for students entering seventh grade and above: January 21
*Make-up testing for December 15, for 6th grade testers who were sick or who missed the test for unexpected reasons and new applicants who apply after December 15, will be offered the ISEE testing on January 21. |
